I love photographing events- they are somewhat like a commercial wedding – and the challenge of the pace, energy and often, stress!  

Event photography is never accidental. Inside every photographer’s mind runs a constant stream of thoughts—mine is a focused monologue that helps keeps me alert, observant, and constantly trying to think outside of the box for original photos.  

• Before the event: I like to know the client, understand what matters, and create a list of the key moments and people that need to be captured. 

• Onsite, it’s about being fully present - a few minutes of observation before even picking up the camera to read the room, spot the light, watch interactions unfold, and plan compositions. 

•  I switch constantly between a range of skills: formal portraits, candid reportage, wide shots, detailed close-ups, planned groupings, and spontaneous moments. 

•  Lighting can often be a challenge. Whether it's balancing natural light with flash or working in low-light environments if not flash is permitted, I come prepared with professional equipment and full backups of everything. 

A phone camera simply can’t do all this, especially in the hands of someone juggling other responsibilities.  An event photographer will be present and ready for the best photographic moments when they happen.
